Dr. Gundersen developed the concept in the early part of 1990. It contains several different protocols for rehabilitation of the spine and extremities and envelopes the idea of constant monitoring during the early phases of each protocol and progresses through increased gradual difficulty and less constant supervision. The research on data collected in the past ten years shows that patients who follow this form of rehabilitation respond better to treatment, miss less work, and have 35% less recurring symptoms after treatment.
